Jacob Rix

An experienced carpenter specialising in roundwood timber framing and custom outdoor playground equipment, I aim to further expand my expertise in forestry, timber processing, and timber framing.

Work History

During my tenure as a workshop manager spanning six months, I honed my proficiency with workshop tools while actively contributing to the design and conceptualisation of structures and products using CAD software such as SketchUp. I helped in the development of prototypes for prospective products and managed logistical operations with precision, including organising and loading lorries for site deployment, delegating tasks, and ensuring projects were executed to exacting standards. Upholding stringent adherence to health and safety regulations in accordance with HSE standards was paramount.

Following this, during a year-long stint as Site Lead, I oversaw teams of up to seven individuals across a diverse array of projects, ranging from high-profile ventures like the Eden Project to smaller local public playgrounds. Entrusted with ensuring site safety and the timely, precise delivery of projects, I demonstrated proficiency in laying out and constructing foundations, reinforcing towers for V-bridges and rope bridges, while also honing managerial and organisational acumen.

I exhibit adeptness in the operation of electric chainsaws, troghöhlers, chainsaw mills, and various power tools. Currently, I am engaged in pursuing supplementary qualifications in chainsaw operation and the handling of petrol-powered machinery through grant application initiatives.

Additionally, I possess comprehensive knowledge in telehandler operation, adeptly performing tasks such as loading and unloading lorries, maneuvering structures utilising hooks, chains, and forks, and using buckets for levelling and moving material as necessitated by project demands.
